Speak Up!

Speak Up! Is the new campaign that Bedford High School had created to help prevent and put an end to all bullying that occurs not only in the school, but outside the walls of the school as well. Speak Up will allow students who are being bullied as well as witnesses to report bullying when they either experience it, or see it happening to someone else. To report a bully, a form can be filled out either at school, or online. On the form you can write your name if you would like to be contacted about the situation, or you can leave the form blank and just write down the situation. I personally do not think Bedford has a huge problem with bullying; however, I do believe that every school has some situations in which bullying occurs. I honestly do not know really how well this new campaign will work, because I know that students have been told several times before to report bullying, but as many times as students are told, they still do not report bullying in fear of their own reputation. I guess I can say that I do not really think that this campaign will be a big help to Bedford, but anything is worth a try.

Haiti

On Tuesday January 12, 2010, the nation of Haiti was hit by a massive 7.0 earthquake. The earthquake has caused great devastation all throughout Haiti, and even yet, throughout the entire world. A week after the earthquake struck, an aftershock came reading at about 6.1 on the Richter scale. Having an after shock at this magnitude made the devastation throughout Haiti rise to an astonishing amount. People serving in Haiti currently are predicting that about 1.5 million people living in Haiti are now homeless, and about 200,000+ have been killed from the massive quake. I personally can not even imagine a fraction of the pain and suffering that the Haiti population is going through right now, and I give immense credit to those who are traveling right now to serve the country of Haiti, because I honestly cannot say that I would be capable of going there at this time to help, it would be absolutely too devastating for me. I believe that continuing to send relief groups to Haiti is a great idea, and I believe that anyone can help the nation of Haiti by sending food items, sanitary items, or even money donations. I believe that if people all throughout the world gather together and work together, the nation of Haiti can and will be rebuilt and restored.

In 10 Years...

In 10 years from now, I plan to be graduated from the Mercy Program as a Registered Nurse, and have my bachelors degree from the University of Toledo. I also plan on attending a couple more years of school to get my masters degree. In ten years, I hope to be married and have a child, or have a child in that near future. I hope to be living either here in Temperance MI (or somewhere close to the area), and working at the Toledo Children's Hospital, or living in Columbus, Ohio and working at a children's hospital around there. I also plan on being very involved in my church, most likely the worship team, and serving in the youth program. I would really hope that in ten years I can buy my dream house which is located down the road from my church on Sylvania-Petersburg road. The house is a huge old farmhouse, which is in great condition and it has a huge porch that goes all around the house. It is the perfect house to raise a family in. I also plan on having a car (hopefully a Camero, Rubicon Jeep Wrangler, or an Escalade). I also hope to be coaching a basketball team for junior high students and working my way up to a high school basketball coach, maybe even a varsity coach.
